Batteryless 3 LED Windup Torch + Nokia charger

Our favorite batteryless torch, much less work than the older dynamo types, and much more reliable! It will also charge a Nokia phone (2.4V or 3.6V batteries) How bright is the torch? At around 15000/45000 mcd it is much much brighter than the Faraday torches. It is enough to hurt your eyes if you look directly at it, and is almost as bright as our 1/3 LED headtorches. Full brightness for twenty minutes in 3 LED mode and for up to forty minutes in 1 LED mode. Torch includes a LIR2032 LiIon cell - a watch battery style cell that uses the same technology as a modern mobile-phone battery. These are very efficient batteries that are optimum for driving a single LED. However in this application they are discharged twice as fast as recommended if the torch is used in 3 LED mode, and they are charged far faster than recommended if you flatten the battery and recharge by winding fast for half a minute. To prolong battery life it is recommend to switch off the torch every five minutes and give it a wind it for a few seconds at a medium pace (120 rpm so that the battery is kept fully charged without fast charging it. Occasionally you can let the torch start to dim and then recondition the battery by winding slowly (60 rpm) for one minute and then at normal pace (120 rpm) for another minute. Winding the torch with it switched on will drive the LEDs harder and possibly overload them, but will not effectively charge the battery. Be careful to obey the instructions and switch off the torch before winding it up. With proper use battery can be recharged 500-1000 times.
